The Confraternity Carnival family is mourning the loss of Pat Maguire.

The Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Rugby League Life Member has passed away after a life of service to his family and to rugby league.

Mr Maguire’s history in rugby league stretched back more than 60 years and included two premierships as a player with Brothers in the Brisbane Rugby League competition in the 1960s.

Mr Maguire would extend his love for Brothers with service as a club official, including a role as chairman.

This gave him a long association with the Confraternity of Brothers Clubs which have been so integral to the history of the Confraternity Carnival.

In his many years with the Carnival, Mr Maguire filled roles including coach of Padua College and as a long-term selector of QISSRL merit teams.

His son Scott Maguire, as a player with Padua and later as a coach, followed Pat in a long association with Confraternity Carnival.

Mr Maguire also served the Family of League Foundation as a volunteer welfare officer, continuing his life of service to others in the game.

QISSRL expresses its deepest sympathies to Mr Maguire’s family and many friends on the passing of a man who lived his life in the Spirit of Confraternity. May he Rest in Peace.
